This is the Lone Tree...it's a relatively short tree in the Hollywood hills, atop the mountain due West of Mount Lee (the one with the Hollywood sign). It's a treacherous trail to get up here, but once you're there, you can see the entire city of Los Angeles, the Valley, out to the Pacific...it's incredible.
I took this on my train trip across the country. I went from NYC to Washington DC, to Chicago, Portland, and down to Los Angeles....by myself. (I work in TV and needed to get away from technology for a while.) In the process, I met some wacky people and saw a whole lot of the country that I had never seen before. The trip served as a giant test run for the Sprocket Rocket, and I got to shoot sunrise, sunset, nighttime, in the snow, in the rain, mountains, beaches, 4 major US cities through 15-20 states with a slew of different kinds of film. It...was awesome.
